After an ill-fated one-night stand, Wyatt Landry was the last person I ever expected to see again.
By design, mind you, as I spent the last two years avoiding him.
He was only ever meant to be a good time—a really good time—and now, thanks to one teensy little mistake, he’s back in my life and wielding an entirely different set of tools.
It’s not like I intentionally hired a bogus contractor to redo our chapel, and Lord knows I never imagined Wyatt would ride up in his pickup truck, like a knight in thigh-hugging blue jeans, to save the day.
But here he is, and to make matters worse, he’s every bit as charming as I remember, and before I can fully process his reappearance in my life, he has my six-year-old daughter wrapped around his finger, my parents eating out of the palm of his hand, and my best friend shipping us like we’re some celebrity couple.
Thankfully, working in the death industry, I’ve mastered the skill of compartmentalization. Keeping my growing feelings tucked away should be a piece of cake. Except, seeing him every day definitely throws a wrench in that plan.
Before I know it, we’re trading favors for dates, and as much I don’t want to admit it, the feelings for him I thought were dead and buried are taking root and growing into something that looks a lot like love.
Daigle Family Funeral Services… don’t be caught dead any place else.
Shut the flipping front door y’all! In typical Heather M. Orgeron fashion this book will have you dying laughing. Okay, so maybe not literally dying. But if it did our heroine could totally handle that situation because she’s the hottest funeral director EVER!!
Whitney and Wyatt had me in unstoppable laughter, break my face smiles, and fanning myself because they were hotter than cremation chamber. Their banter was off the charts. The ways in which Whitney did her best to avoid giving into her feelings for Wyatt, and the ways in which he bided his time because he knew she was his from the moment he saw her again, unforgettable. He was so swoony, and sexy. Every damn thing about him was just so dang delicious. I couldn’t help but to love how offended and betrayed she felt at how accepting her family was to Wyatt. Everyone just loved him.
I was addicted to the strong and beautiful glue of the family and the family business, Whitney. She was an amazing daughter and mother to her little girl, who stole every scene she was in. I was a bit scared when I first started and realized we were reading about a family that ran a funeral home and quickly had flashbacks of My Girl and poor sweet Thomas J. 😭 Y’all… this was nothing like that. Every line was crafted to make you smile, to make you laugh out loud, and fun flirty moments guaranteed to melt your heart and your kindle. The heat between these two… rivals that of a summer night in New Orleans. 🔥
From Whitney and Wyatt to best friends, family and flying squirrels. 🐿 All of the the details of the secondary characters, whom I absolutely LOVED btw, was perfectly penned to have us addicted from the first page until we finished. I wasn’t ready to let them go, but I truly loved the ending. This is most definitely a story I will read again when just I’m looking for a day of much needed laughter.

BOOK BLURB Falling in love was the easy part. Being secretly in love with my brother’s best friend is where it got tricky. Levi Dent was off-limits. Which was probably for the best, since he barely knew I existed. Until one night I saw an opportunity I couldn’t resist. The problem was, I got caught. She tricked me. I knew there was something so familiar about her, but I just couldn’t resist. Hannah Matthews was nothing more than my best friend’s little sister. Except she wasn’t so little anymore. I need to forget all about her. If only it were that easy…Add to Goodreads: https://bit.ly/2WJRPg6
I fell hard and fast for Levi and Hannah’s story. Yes, It was cute and sweet, but it was fiery and smokin hot. They had off the charts chemistry, a forbidden love vibe to it, and definitely some angst and suspense.
Hannah has always had a thing for Levi. Her brothers hot best friend. I loved how Hannah utilized her opportunity to take the bull by the horns so to speak and get the guy she’s dreamed about since she was a teenager. I’m not sure she expected it to backfire the way it did, nor did she expect to have to interact with Levi like she did afterwards. But Hannah was beautiful and a total sweetheart. She wasn’t going to let an uncomfortable situation deter her dreams and plans. She was feisty and fearless at times, and at times she still carries emotional baggage from her teen years. I had the biggest girl crush on her character. She made me laugh, she made me smile, my heart also broke right along with hers.
Levi Dent is a good guy. But good guys don’t sleep with their best friends’ sisters. He’s mad that Hannah duped him and he’s certainly not happy about the newest predicament they find themselves in. But he is most unhappy about the fact that he can’t get their encounter out of his head.
I loved Levi’s banter with Hannah. It was witty and funny. He was hot and sexy, but he was sweet and caring also. Out of all the guys in her brother’s group of friends, he was the most genuine and didn’t treat her like the others did, even if he didn’t always jump in and stop it. I love his self reflection, looking back at how she was treated by the other people in their group of friends. But his eyes are opening now and they see only her, and it’s beautiful and precious. GAH! They are so adorably yummy together! 😍
My cr8zysockbookblock blog wrap up for this book!
⭐️⭐⭐⭐⭐- This book has it all. It was charming and witty. It was sexy and funny. It had twist and suspenseful turns I didn’t see coming. It had that forbidden brother’s best friend aspect, but was also like enemies to lovers, because there was some definite anger and tension between them after their first throw down. It was fun and engaging and I devoured it super fast. I did not want to put this book down!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥-Holy Hades Hannah and Levi!! Yummy for her secret trickery that ends in a hookup! Licious smexy times!!
