Holy Moly! This author and her ability to flay my heart right open with her phenomenally unforgettable stories. Every single one that I read imprints itself on my heart and I find myself thinking back on them often. This story was no exception.
From the moment I started it I was intrigued with the way we started off. It was obvious there is lots of history, and heartbreaking circumstances just waiting to be revealed. The characters immediately capture me like beacons. Both for different reasons. Both still hurting and suffering from what all we just donโt know yet. But what we can tell is that there is definitely a special connection between them, and their reactions to that draw towards each other is completely different.
Lucyโs character made me feel so much. I laughed, I cried, I rooted for her, I hurt for her. Right now, I feel so much for her. Right nowโฆ I am NOT OKAY! Cal is everything I want in my book boyfriend. Heโs gorgeous, heโs tatted, heโs mean yet protective. Heโs all anti-relationship yet possessive AF. Heโs hurt yโall. And hurt people hurt people.
He frustrated me as much as he fascinated me. He could be intimidating, infuriating, but oh so enticing too. He put up this hard exterior but you can see hints of the ooey gooey center beneath. It will just take the right person to get him to expose those parts of himself.
I must warn you, If you are offended by cliffhangers in books then I must urge you to wait until 1/31/23 until both books in the duet are out. Reign has always had a thing for Echo but really never really thought he deserved her. So when his best friend took a liking to her as well he stepped aside and let who he thought โwas the better manโ go for her.
This book is such a rollercoaster of emotions. I went from my heart all a flutter, to furious, to fanning myself because itโs freaking HAWT! ๐ฅ Then I was swooning, swearinโ, and shouting hot mess. This book had me feelings every emotion. All the thighs. Even at my lowest points in the book I wouldnโt trade a second.
This is probably my FAVORITE of the series. Just Phenomenal, Fantastic, Terrifically Unforgettable. Fifth and final standalone book in the St. Maryโs Rebels is not to be missed. I am absolutely destroyed at the moment. This book gutted me. I wasnโt quite sure what I was going to get when I started. As this is A- my first read by this author so Iโm unfamiliar with her style, which I am discovering is a tragedy in itself because OMG where has Author Brit Benson been in my life the last few years?! And B- because other than the blurb that TBH I read a while back when I signed up to read this, I went in blind not really knowing too much of what to expect. Which turned out to be the way to go anyway.
Blind is best yโall. My recommended way to go, always. Now, I had my assumptions based upon said blurb, butโฆ You know what they say about assumptions and all!ย Blurb had me thinking โ okay, this is going to be the whole โgood girl falls for an anti-hero thatโs going to grow on us.โ and I can totally get on board with a good โol enemies to lovers any day of the week and twice on Sundayโs. I mean it was an enemies to lovers, and this book does take place in high school, but these were anything but your typical high school sweethearts. This book was unlike ANYTHING I have ever read. Original storyline with phenomenally written, flawed characters gave us an engaging and gripping story. Aย gritty and realness that is sure to leave you emotionally raw long after the cliffy at the end leaves you breathless. I know it did me.ย
From the very beginning I fell for Macon hook, line, and sinker. Heโs so tantalizingly toxic, and I should be ashamed that Iโm so twisted because I die harder for the toxic ones. But Iโm not even a little ashamed.ย Yes, he was definitely cruel at times, he was messed up, he was for sure trouble with a capital T. But he was also misunderstood, he was damaged, he was broken, self destructive,ย hurt, and he was so much more than what people saw him for. It wasnโt just the way people saw him, it was the way he saw himself.
He just made me feel everything. I wanted to simultaneously hit him upside his head to knock some sense into him and pull him to me and just hug him and heal all his hurts. He broke my heart, he melted my heart, he made me hot. Holy Hot Hell ๐ฅ๐ถ๐ฅ๐ถ did he ever make me hot. The ones withย the bad egg rep yโall, Iโm telling you. They just do it for me. What is wrong with me? In real life my hubby is as straight-laced as they come.ย Lol That’s probably why I like my fictional fellas fully fubarโd! (Not completely. I do want him redeemable)ย ย
Lennon is amazing. Sheโs got a heart of gold, she is who she is and sheโs comfortable with herself. She is creative, a rule follower, and selfless friend. Honestly she gets the short end of the stick sometimes because with most of the people in her life she doesnโt stand up for herselfโฆexcept with Macon. He seems to be the person in the world who can get her the most fired up. The way they verbally spar. He brings out this lively feisty spirited side to her that no one else sees. I can feelย how she finds herself struggling with her feelings for him, it practically jumps off the pages. She is at war with everything. The things he does, the way he treats her, the things others have to say about the kind of person he is. It all weighs heavily on her mind.
But things start to happen and she finds herself around him more and more and she sees glimpses that there is so much more to him. All of these discoveries are breaking down her walls. However the more walls they tear down, the more life seems to throw back up in their way. I just connected with her character so deeply. The writer did such an amazing job I was so invested and emotional I had to take moments and remind myself that I wasnโt actually there. I didnโt need to throw down with anyone in real life to stand up for some injustice that was being done to my girl. I mean I could chuck my kindle, and almost did several times. I could cry, which I absolutely did. A lot. I could cuss, did that as well. But at the end of that chapter I pressed on. Until press on I could no moreโฆand now we wait.ย ย
My angsty frustration level is at an all time high. The tension between them is palpable. I live for the kind of rush this book was giving me. This book is a catastrophic collision of every emotion under the sun. Past trauma, damaged hearts, addiction, forbidden love, secrets, mistakes, lies and betrayal rips through their lives. Told in dual alternating POV, book one in the Next Live Duet will leave you grasping the edge of your seat, tears in your eyes, wanting to IM the author immediately to demand book two, before I die of impatience. Can one actually die of impatience? I feel like I just might. But in all actuality this book is fantastic. While it is full of sensitive content. It is beautifully written, the parallels to real life make it tragically devastating especially given where it has left us at this point. I am also filled with a smidge of hope. Deep in my core I believe in true love and I believe these two are inevitable soul mates. But I think they ( and us readers) will be put through a gut-wrenching journey, the likes of one which we wonโt recover from immediately( because these characters have already captured our hearts.)

Hot Diggity Damn Yโall! There is not a genre or trope Author Holly Renee writes that I do not absolutely obsess over. No lie. You will fall for him, be frustrated for him and most definitely be fanning yourself over him. He is all kinds of dirty talking, and sexy mysterious power and he will surprise you over and over again. He seems like such a loyal and faithful servantโฆ But to whom is he most loyal?!ย
Majestically magical and fabulously forbidden, this story is unique, unforgettably engaging and will have you hanging on every single second from the start until the suckerpunching cliffy at the end. OH MY WORD!ย I love a good โolย heart melting single dad romance. Especially if he happens to be the doting daddy of a little girl. ๐ Like for real. Iโm legit a goner for a girl dad. ๐ฅบย Iโm sure it probably has to do with the fact that I was the oldest of three girls raised by a single dad, and a through and through Daddyโs girl until the day he died, so I was instantly drawn into everything about this story.

It delivers a fresh new engaging storyline, loveable and emotion evoking characters, picturesque settings, plenty of heart, heat and steamy goodness. Although it seems as though she just might be the one to finally change his mind on his hesitation to relationships. Sydney is the BEST!๐ She is young and vibrant. Beautiful, patient and lots of fun to be around. She radiates warmth and love and has the biggest and most unselfish heart. She is young and still working out what she wants her path in life to look like. But at the same time she is able to be mature for her age but also simultaneously youthful and brings an energy that makes those around her happy. She naturally does sweet gestures and things for people to show how much she cares for them. You canโt help but love her character and almost forget sheโs a character and not my friend IRL.ย
The Single Dad is the third standalone in the Dalton Brothers series. You donโt have to have read the others but they are good books and have crossover characters from the previous books so If you have the time I would recommend checking them out. Ford has come along and pushed his two brothers right on out and became my favorite Dalton brother. FOR SURE. This entire book had me captivated. Between the heart melting daddy/daughter moments, the effervescent and unforgettable Everly filled ones, the charming moments, the steamy moments, the fun, flirty, and fantastically witty banter filled moments.

Reason to Believe is an amazingly wonderful story of inevitable love. Itโs everything heartwarming and yummy about small town, forbidden, brothers best-friends, roommates to lovers, forced proximity romance. Knox and Harperโs story has it all. Adorable kiddos, hot firefighters, so much tension and steam you will lose your mind!! So much more that I wonโt spoil it because itโs too good and I recommend this book for everyone because it hits on so many great tropes.
Harper has loved Knox her entire life. He broke her heart seven years ago after an unforgettable moment together followed by him immediately putting her firmly in the โfriendโs boxโ due to a warning by her brother who also happens to be Knoxโs best friend, Ryker. Harper went on and became a teacher and opened her own preschool. When an accident leaves one of her students and his baby brother at the risk of being separated she immediately jumps in ready to help. She finds herself having to call on Knox to help her out with a place to go and stay for a few days.
Knox has deep feelings for Harper but he has never been able to act on them. When he shows up early back at home he is shocked by what he finds. But he is committed to helping Harper no matter what. This situation proves to be life changing for all involved.
This book was my first by this author but I guarantee you it will definitely not be my last. I was astounded by her ability to bring you into her character’s world. She legit sucked me right into this story. I felt all the feelings and my heart broke and then was patched back up by the end. We had funny moments, tear filled moments, super steamy moments and heart melting moments. With a great cast of secondary characters this book will definitely put your emotions through the ringer and every second will be worth it!! Being a foster mom myself I love the true and authentic experience this author portrays in this. This is what itโs like for us, what our hearts feel like in these situations. I think itโs amazing to utilize this type of platform to bring a little awareness. ๐

Frustratingly Fantastic, Tantalizingly Torturous, and Heartbreaking as much as was heart-healing, this conclusion to Olly and Frankieโs story was unputdownable, and unforgettable. An unbelievable mix of angst and agony to my heart, but one that I would willingly subject myself to over and over again. The story that started unfolding by dropping little hints from the very beginning of The Boys of Clermont Bay series, showed us that something was always there between Olly and Frankie. Those little nuggets Holly Renee had been planting had me jonesing (and not always so patiently) for their time to tell their story and let me tell yโall. It.Was.So.Worth.The.Wait.

But truly in their times apart they both grew and learned things in their own way. They had different views on what they were and what they could become. They both grew and matured on their own, but in totally different ways. Frankie had realized what she truly deserves in her life and that was the only thing she was going to settle for going forward in her life. Olly finally realized what he needed to do to be the man Frankie deserves and prioritized his life accordingly.
While it was gut wrenching for these two characters as well as it was for me being so invested in their journey, I knew it was essential that they traveled those bumps and turns along the way to get to the place where they were truly meant to be. And that place was PERFECT!!
I canโt say enough about not only this duet but this entire series. If you havenโt started it, there is no better day that TODAY!! If you have been following all along then grab this phenomenal conclusion that was years in the making. I loved to see this side of her. She is most def the queen boss now. ๐
This entire book had me hooked. I was already addicted to the guys, Juliet and Grams before but now it’s on a whole other level. I laughed and I cried. I got angry at times and the angst about did me in. But this book hurt my heart as much as it healed it. I got the exact closure I needed. If I could have special ordered exactly what I wanted in the wrap up for this series it would be exactly what CoraLee delivered. Actually thatโs not true. CoraLee gave me things I didnโt even know I needed and more. There was absolutely some super devastation in this story as well, but Iโm not mad. I think for these characters to end up where they were destined to go we had to endure the heartbreaking parts of their journey too.
Full of suspense, surprises, fighting and gore, sinful deliciousness, and unpredicted softer and sweeter moments out of our irredeemably redeemed Civella men. Grudge will close this series in the most extraordinary of ways. The engaging and phenomenally gifted writing by CoraLee June will keep you entranced from beginning to the very end, where you will sigh, cry and reluctantly let these characters go. I am obsessed with anything that Elizabeth OโRoark writes. Devil and the Deep Blue Sea was just what I needed in my life right now. It was the most delicious secret, forbidden, hooking up with your ex boyfriendโs brother while on vacation, romance. The journey to love between this gorgeous rockstar -whoโs not got her stuff together and hot doctor, who happens to be the perfect humanitarian and son, is an unforgettably exciting and engaging story.
I loved the entire dynamic between Drew and Joshua and how they were stuck around each other on the trip. Them being forced to be around each other added many layers to the tension brewing between. It gave this gloriously fantastic tale the absolute best banter ever! These characters are so well written. They are beautifully complex and phenomenally intriguing. I love how they are able to balance each other. Drew is broken in so many ways and even though she couldnโt stand judgemental Dr. Joshua at first, itโs apparent that this man is the one who can fix her broken picked apart pieces and build her back up to everything sheโs capable of being and more. Joshua is the most loving and caring son. Heโs so annoyed by his brother and determined to be the opposite of his father. He doesnโt like what Drew and his brother stand for, although the more time he spends with her he realizes sheโs nothing like he thought.
I couldnโt get enough of their bickering and banter back and forth. It makes the story flow absolutely flawlessly. The characters are full of heart, depth and emotions. There is just enough humor, steam, banter, and frustration to keep you obsessed from the second you crack the book until the last word is read, and then I promise you still wonโt want to let these characters go.
