My Review

Evil Love by Ella Fields is an exciting new bully/ enemies-to-lovers romance. I love, love, love Ella Fields. When I see she has a new book coming, my fingers are smokin as they fly across the keyboard so fast to sign up to get it. Her writing nearly always blows me away. However, while I wouldn’t say Evil Love, is my favorite Ella Fields book to date it was still a four star read for me. Full of conflict, crushing cruelty, intrigue, mystery, unexpected turns of events and a refreshing new take on a bully romance. This completely new and original story line is the first book in Ella Fields’ new Nightingale series and will introduce you to a world of secret societies, deviant behaviors, and jaw-droppingly heinous initiations.

This story, the love story is between Fern and her neighbor who she’s been majorly crushing on, Jude. Now, I use the term crush lightly because it’s much too loose a term. Fern is quirky and has an obsession with Jude that borders on almost stalking, but I can almost be forgiving of her stalker tendencies because she’s a little weird,  endearing, and cute. But she’s also a redhead, blue eyed bombshell! She knows every detail about him. I do get the magnitude of a huge crush, I’m pretty sure I had a similar shrine to Kirk Cameron myself when I was younger, although it was tad less creepy and I at least got all the pics all from Teen Beat magazines. 😂 Anyhoo…

Once she gets the nerve and finally makes her moves and he’s receptive it seems like things might go right for our Fern after all. But then there comes his Ex and he takes a total switchback and he’s just so horrible to her, and Fern, she just takes it. Whatever little breadcrumbs he offers. So it’s a bit hard to accept. I don’t like what he does to her fragile little heart that’s so devoted to him. The ultimate act of cruelty, I was so devastated and worried for her. Afraid he would crush her. I think maybe that’s why it took me a bit longer to get on board. But I think she’s strong too. She’s lonely but she knew what she wanted and Jude was it…until he wasn’t. 

Jude may have been hot and sexy and mysterious with some things he had going on(purposely being vague), but I still struggled with being okay with his back and forth playing with the girl’s emotions. (You will get that when you read it) I did love how he was with his brother, though. That literally melted my heart. ♥️ I really started to come around to him more as the book progressed, there were reasons as to why he was the way he was. I think he never expected to start feeling the ways he was starting to feel and that was scary, especially given their predicament. He was truly the perfect bully book boyfriend. Sexy, cruel, secretive. He had all the elements I’m looking for and I really thought the chemistry between him and Fern was off the charts! 🔥

I really loved the secondary characters in this book Silas and Cora, and I am really looking forward to the next book in the series. I think this book set it up nicely for great things to come. Secret Societies, mystery, initiations, depravity. So much goodness and I’m here for it all! I see it being all kinds of amazingness and I’m super excited for it!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- Bully fans, enemies-to-lovers fans too will enjoy this book. I think all of the elements of a good Bully are there as well as the frustrating angst I was looking for. Plus all the mystery, lies, secrets, sex and intrigue you could want and even  more on the way!

🌪Cliffhanger Warning-No cliffhanger! You get a perfect little HEA! ❤️ However, this was the Nightingale book one. So more books are on the way, which is super exciting! I cannot wait!!
