This stand-alone, full length, dark mafia romance is a thrilling genre bending tale by the incredibly talented BB Easton. Told in dual POV this is a story that’s both unique and unforgettable. Gritty and gripping to its very core it will gut you. There is violence, darkness, suspense, beautiful Irish setting, and a mystical feel to it with some old Irish folklore. I wasn’t even sure quite what I was expecting going in but I can tell you whatever it was this book by far surpassed it, AND MORE. This book was everything I was looking for to break up the lighter sports romances, and romcoms I have been reading of late. Not that I don’t enjoy them, I do. But I’m a dark reader at heart. 🖤 (Because I’m naturally sunshiney IRL☀️). I’m really glad that Devil of Dublin was able to fully send me reeling deep down in the dark romance hole where I usually hang with the other disturbed folks like myself. 😈
Darby Collins goes to Ireland for the first time as a young child. Folklore sends her on a quest through the woods. While wandering she finds a boy named Kellan. Kellan definitely has some issues going on, but Darby sees something in him, and he in her. Over the years Darby visits and the two grow closer. She is light where he is dark. Although Intensely connected from the beginning, the summer visits come to a stop after a few years. After that these two both underwent some tragic and horrific things which had significant impacts on the people they became as adults.
When life brings them back into each other’s lives it is a crazy emotional ride. I loved these character’s. Their complexities, the depth to them. The things they went through, my god. It was raw and smacked you with blunt force. This book was dark mafia deliciousness and made me gasp as much as my heart raced. I was breathless with anticipation and then my heart melted over these characters. While the journey was not always pretty, that was for sure. It was necessary for them to go through it all to end up right where they did. And that my friends was where they were always meant to be. 🥰

I am absolutely destroyed at the moment. This book gutted me. I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to get when I started. As this is A- my first read by this author so I’m unfamiliar with her style, which I am discovering is a tragedy in itself because OMG where has Author Brit Benson been in my life the last few years?! And B- because other than the blurb that TBH I read a while back when I signed up to read this, I went in blind not really knowing too much of what to expect. Which turned out to be the way to go anyway.
Blind is best y’all. My recommended way to go, always. Now, I had my assumptions based upon said blurb, but… You know what they say about assumptions and all! Blurb had me thinking “ okay, this is going to be the whole “good girl falls for an anti-hero that’s going to grow on us.” and I can totally get on board with a good ‘ol enemies to lovers any day of the week and twice on Sunday’s. I mean it was an enemies to lovers, and this book does take place in high school, but these were anything but your typical high school sweethearts. This book was unlike ANYTHING I have ever read. Original storyline with phenomenally written, flawed characters gave us an engaging and gripping story. A gritty and realness that is sure to leave you emotionally raw long after the cliffy at the end leaves you breathless. I know it did me.
From the very beginning I fell for Macon hook, line, and sinker. He’s so tantalizingly toxic, and I should be ashamed that I’m so twisted because I die harder for the toxic ones. But I’m not even a little ashamed. Yes, he was definitely cruel at times, he was messed up, he was for sure trouble with a capital T. But he was also misunderstood, he was damaged, he was broken, self destructive, hurt, and he was so much more than what people saw him for. It wasn’t just the way people saw him, it was the way he saw himself.
He just made me feel everything. I wanted to simultaneously hit him upside his head to knock some sense into him and pull him to me and just hug him and heal all his hurts. He broke my heart, he melted my heart, he made me hot. Holy Hot Hell 🔥🌶🔥🌶 did he ever make me hot. The ones with the bad egg rep y’all, I’m telling you. They just do it for me. What is wrong with me? In real life my hubby is as straight-laced as they come. Lol That’s probably why I like my fictional fellas fully fubar’d! (Not completely. I do want him redeemable)
Lennon is amazing. She’s got a heart of gold, she is who she is and she’s comfortable with herself. She is creative, a rule follower, and selfless friend. Honestly she gets the short end of the stick sometimes because with most of the people in her life she doesn’t stand up for herself…except with Macon. He seems to be the person in the world who can get her the most fired up. The way they verbally spar. He brings out this lively feisty spirited side to her that no one else sees. I can feel how she finds herself struggling with her feelings for him, it practically jumps off the pages. She is at war with everything. The things he does, the way he treats her, the things others have to say about the kind of person he is. It all weighs heavily on her mind.
But things start to happen and she finds herself around him more and more and she sees glimpses that there is so much more to him. All of these discoveries are breaking down her walls. However the more walls they tear down, the more life seems to throw back up in their way. I just connected with her character so deeply. The writer did such an amazing job I was so invested and emotional I had to take moments and remind myself that I wasn’t actually there. I didn’t need to throw down with anyone in real life to stand up for some injustice that was being done to my girl. I mean I could chuck my kindle, and almost did several times. I could cry, which I absolutely did. A lot. I could cuss, did that as well. But at the end of that chapter I pressed on. Until press on I could no more…and now we wait.
My angsty frustration level is at an all time high. The tension between them is palpable. I live for the kind of rush this book was giving me. This book is a catastrophic collision of every emotion under the sun. Past trauma, damaged hearts, addiction, forbidden love, secrets, mistakes, lies and betrayal rips through their lives. Told in dual alternating POV, book one in the Next Live Duet will leave you grasping the edge of your seat, tears in your eyes, wanting to IM the author immediately to demand book two, before I die of impatience. Can one actually die of impatience? I feel like I just might. But in all actuality this book is fantastic. While it is full of sensitive content. It is beautifully written, the parallels to real life make it tragically devastating especially given where it has left us at this point. I am also filled with a smidge of hope. Deep in my core I believe in true love and I believe these two are inevitable soul mates. But I think they ( and us readers) will be put through a gut-wrenching journey, the likes of one which we won’t recover from immediately( because these characters have already captured our hearts.)

💭Overall Thoughts~ I am so happy I took a chance on this book and this new to me author as it will most definitely go down as one of my TOP READS of 2022! My only regret is that I am just now discovering this author’s work. I plan to quickly devour as much of her back list ASAP. I will be counting down the days until book two. I’m probably not ready for what Ms. Benson is going to do to my poor heart. But I can’t survive without knowing where we are going from here. I highly recommend EVERYONE take a chance on this author and The Love Of My Next Life. As for me… I will never be the same.

Thief is the second full length book in the Loxley Prep series and must be read after Traitor as it picked right up where Traitor left us hanging on edge. This book unravels further into what actually went down at Camp Capitree. Unfolding between past and present, I was absolutely captivated by the whole premise of Camp Capitree and all the evil that went down there. IRL, I can’t imagine the long term trauma a place like that would have on still developing children and teens. 💔 This is why I’m a foster parent. But as far as Thief goes, I love how this author writes the events and storyline surrounding Camp Capitree.
I really like how slowly we are getting to know more and more about the complexity of these characters. I love them as individuals and as a group. While she’s made a lot of progress with some, she’s got some more work with others. This is not an easy just kiss and make up journey.
I know I’m being somewhat vague but that’s entirely on purpose as I think these books are better to go in blind. The jaw dropping experience is that much better when you have no idea what’s coming your way. 😉 🤯😱

After picking up right where that epic cliffy left us hanging at the end of Triple Threat, Landry and Della’s attempt to run away. We get to see the aftermath of just how Landry deals with the fall out of her revelations about “Ford Mann” 🤯and all the secrets “he’d” been keeping from her and just how far “he” is willing to go to have her under his “protection.”
I love the transformation we have seen in these “Terror Triplets” Holy McMoly! 🥰😍They have legit went from detested to desired in my eyes. From loathed to loved. From unredeemable to redeemed. The way they are with Della melted this old gals heart. They way they are with Landry melted my under goods. Poof! Incinerated 💥them panties right off. HAWT DANG.🥵🔥🥵 They had this sweetly protective side we hadn’t seen from them before and it was so hot. They were all still alpha AF in their own way but each was able to give her what she needed and be exactly what she needed him to be.
This book had lots of mysteries that would finally begin to come to light. Questions you had from the first book would finally be answered and you will find yourself on the edge of your seat. It’s quite the ride. You might have to look to some enemies for help or wonder if your friends are really friends or foe. You will worry if Landry and Della will be found and If so what will happen to them. But In the end you will discover the lengths in which those who truly love you will go to to protect you. This was a very good start to a new series by a totally new to me author, Hattie Jude.
Traitor, told going back in time between present day and her earlier teenage years, tells us the beginning of Lennon’s story and the four boys who became a huge part of it. After being away from the guys for a while Lennon shows up at Loxley Prep only to discover that these boys harbor some serious hatred towards her and she doesn’t quite understand why.
Abel, Bishop, Wells, and Ronan are anything but happy to see their old friend, Lennon. After all that she did and the lies she told they want nothing more than to make her pay for all of that and more and intend to do just that. But why does she seem so confused by the anger they have towards her?
I don’t want to give any real details away because I think it’s best to just go in blind like I did and not really know what you’re getting yourself into. Plus spoilers suck so bad and I never will do that to anyone.

Plus we are dealing with two people who are not very good at sharing and are most definitely very jealous and possessive and can be very over the top about it. Plus can you imagine having it bad for someone you can’t have?! Doesn’t forbidden fruit always taste the sweetest? 😈
What I love about these characters is that they are unapologetic about who they are and what they each bring to the table when they are together. Unapologetic in how they fight with and for and about each other. Which I happened to think was hot, so dang hot. 🥵🔥 Raylee is a tough cookie and she likes what she likes. I mean she knows how she may be looked at by others but she just chucks in the I don’t give frogs fat fanny bucket and and moves on and gets hers. I envy that part of her. To be that free in that way. Colt just does it for me. I admit I’m a little twisted. Colt and all the craziness and twisted turns he will bring your way. What a ride you have coming for you.This book has so much mind blowing going on. I’m still processing. Yaaasss!
OMG! There aren’t words that can describe to you how hot these scenes are. Shantel has a gift, the mind of the money shot. Things you couldn’t have even imagined you’d want to read but you are instantly insanely obsessed over. She will push you out of your comfort zone, test your boundaries and have you questioning your own desires. I’m absolutely amazed by all the ways in which She manages to captivate us all with the words at the tips of her talented little fingers. Phenomenal job!🙌🏻🙌🏻

So… Inertia picks right back up where it left us at the end of Anesthetic. Devastatingly concerned for Ainsley and the path she is heading down. In Inertia Killian goes to many extremes to try to help her get clean. Unfortunately as much as his intentions are coming from the right place, the execution is a blend of some enabling combined with a bit of toxicity. But the things that never waivers is their love for one another, their passion for each other. Holy Crow they are so flipping hot together. 🥵🥵
This book is like being on a continuous rollercoaster of feels. I cried, swooned, sweated on edge, and I swore. Angst and frustration I felt at top levels. 🥺😩😥 I was worried for Ainsley and scared for Killian. Killian is in a battle with his heart and head. In his heart he doesn’t want to be away from his girl but his head knows he needs to do whatever he can to get her help and get her sober, even if that means breaking both their hearts along the way.
Killian has some substance issues himself though not to the extent of the addiction that has a hold of Ainsley. He’s also afraid of his previous actions coming back to haunt him and then he wouldn’t be able to help her. Ainsley knows she is in a horrible situation but the addiction is just so strong that it’s terrifying to think of how she will cope without dope.
Again this book leaves us panting and needing the final part of their story. I love this couple and I am totally invested in what happens to them so I need more of them like I need air. This book is gritty and raw and real in its depiction of the love between two lovers struggling with addiction. I love that C.M. gives us such an unfiltered view of all the aspects of what makes up these tortured and fantastic characters. Views of the real life real struggles addicts go through everyday.
In closing, trust me when I say I can’t possibly say all the reasons as to why you should read this without spoiling anything so just believe me. Read this series and this book. TODAY!!
HOLY SWEET HELL!! 😱 Could this book be anymore perfect?! CoraLee has masterfully wrapped up the Malice Mafia trilogy in a way that will gut you, consume you, devastate you, frustrate you, but one hundred percent leave you feeling utterly fulfilled. This final installment will get you so far up in your feelings, y’all get ready. 😭🥺😭 The devastation this book delivers dang near killed me. Prepare yourself to see these characters undergo so much growth. We legit see completely different and better ( who would have thought they could get more awesome??) sides to them. Such darkness we saw from them in the past two books gives way to some light and softer sides we hadn’t seen from them before. 🥰

This entire book had me hooked. I was already addicted to the guys, Juliet and Grams before but now it’s on a whole other level. I laughed and I cried. I got angry at times and the angst about did me in. But this book hurt my heart as much as it healed it. I got the exact closure I needed. If I could have special ordered exactly what I wanted in the wrap up for this series it would be exactly what CoraLee delivered. Actually that’s not true. CoraLee gave me things I didn’t even know I needed and more. There was absolutely some super devastation in this story as well, but I’m not mad. I think for these characters to end up where they were destined to go we had to endure the heartbreaking parts of their journey too.
Full of suspense, surprises, fighting and gore, sinful deliciousness, and unpredicted softer and sweeter moments out of our irredeemably redeemed Civella men. Grudge will close this series in the most extraordinary of ways. The engaging and phenomenally gifted writing by CoraLee June will keep you entranced from beginning to the very end, where you will sigh, cry and reluctantly let these characters go. Then you will be left feening for the next book by CoraLee, which can’t come soon enough for me. All the stars in the galaxy for Grudge. ⭐️✨💫⭐️✨💫⭐️✨💫⭐️✨💫⭐️✨💫⭐️✨💫
