My Review
Ander and Hadley are back. Breaking hearts and each other’s spirits with the beautiful inevitably toxic love they share. This poor couple is the absolute epitome of the addict and the enabler that will love them into the grave. They both are so irrevocably in love with each other.
But ultimately Ander can’t change who he is and what he does just because of Hadley. If her love was enough he would do it for her in a heartbeat, but Anders’ problems are big. But Hadley knows deep down that she can just love him better, she knows she can’t keep enabling him. It’s gonna hurt and take some huge sacrifice on her part because she just can’t stay in this world of worry and stress with him. But… Has he finally broken his last straw?
This book, like the others in the series, is emotional and raw. It’s so gut wrenching and real at it’s core you can help but to be swept away into Hadley and Anders’ story. To sympathize with everyone who has ever loved someone so much that they have found themselves in a continuous loop like we see here with Ander and Hadley. Their story is devastated and deep and raw and frustrating. But it’s so REAL y’all! There are couples out there like our Ander and Hadley right now and they don’t survive. So I can’t wait for book four. They have such deep strength and love that they pull from one another. Hardly is so much stronger than she knows and if anyone can be the incentive to make him get clean forever it’s her. I just hope it works.

Holy cow y’all! I was NOT expecting what we got with Close Quarters. This book was phenomenal and then some. It had a dreamy billionaire, an off the chain luxury Yacht, gorgeous Mediterranean locations, a super shy and sweet heroine, the unlikable characters and plenty of ANGST. This does not even begin to sum up how cool this unputdownable book was though. Aspen and Theo’s story is anything but predictable in this new take on the billionaire romance trope.
Aspen Dawn is a truly remarkable character. This twenty-two year old recent college graduate is sweet and unselfish, humble and extremely beautiful. Yet she has no Idea. From behind her lens she is too used to looking at the beauty and wonder the world has to offer that she misses what she herself brings to the world. What was supposed to be a few quick snap shots of the yacht her boyfriend, Joel will be spending the summer on before she takes off alone on a trek across some of the Mediterranean most beautiful locations to build her photography portfolio, quickly changes into a life changing opportunity when she takes a picture of Theo Whitman. One look at Aspen and her photos and Mr. Whitman insists she join his crew for the summer as his on call onboard photographer. From the magical locations, Kandi Steiner spared none with her descriptions, making me envision every sight, smell, and color in vivid details. Discovering the wonderment along with Aspen, I felt like I was right there on the ship with them. To the secondary characters, some who definitely captured my heart, some I wanted to throttle for daring to treat my Aspen as they dared to. To the undeniably explosive chemistry between Aspen and Theo. I was addicted to every.single.word.
Even with the circumstances surrounding her relationship status I DIDN’T CARE. Though I am not actually that bothered by books that contain cheating. I would never do that but find it to be exciting and angsty and so freaking hot in a story. The allure of the forbidden will always tempt me. Add in the change at getting discovered and OMG I’m sold. However this is not a typical cheating scenario and I would say even if that bothers you to still give this a chance. It’s not at all what you will be expecting. It’s beautiful and romantic and sensual and wicked hot. 🔥I’ve never read two characters that were more inevitably perfect for one another and I was hoping, praying, yearning beyond all else that they would find a way to be together. Damn the consequences. A love that meant to be shouldn’t cause destruction of any kind. This is most definitely a MUST READ. It is unlike any other Kandi Steiner book I have read. Saffron A. Kent is most definitely one of my forbidden favorites. One of my go-to’s when I need an age-gap. When I am looking for a delicious and dirty romance that will capture my heart and soul and have me all twisted and turned inside and out before letting me go. THIS story, My Darling Arrow was just that. A perfectly packed emotional journey. I devoured this book so quickly. I absolutely didn’t want to put it down. To be totally honest I was actually sad when it was over. It could have gone on forever and I would have been a happy happy girl! 😍
She had been plagued by something she couldn’t take any longer and had to get away, things didn’t quite work out how she had planned and that ended with her at St. Mary’s. There she meets a group of supportive friends that help her escape the confines of the restrictive walls.
Finally the one with the bewitching eyes and plump lips, she loves to coat in rebellious colors of lipstick, is finally able to explore the opportunity to be with the one she has always dreamed of. Even if that means she has to offer herself up.
From the first page I was entranced by Salem’s character. Her years of deep love, obsession, devotion, and sacrifice for the love of her life, Arrow. She kept it all inside in secret, only letting it flow freely in her letters she wrote to him, that she would never actually send to him. There were reasons for the deep rooted secrecy, and those I will keep to myself as well, because I wouldn’t dare spoil it for you, dear readers. Salem found herself at St. Mary’s reform school after running away from home.
Arrow was a tougher character to crack at first. He arrives at St. Mary’s angry, damaged and so different from the Arrow, Salem knew all these years. She doesn’t understand why he is here or what things could have happened in his life to lead him back home to St. Mary’s, but she makes up her mind she is going to help him. No matter what might happen to her heart in the process. I love characters like Arrow. He was so complex. There were so many layers to him and to why he was the way he was. It was definitely hard sometimes to read him hurt my sweet devoted Salem, but to see his transformation by the end…OMG!! Gah! This is why I read books like this and why YOU should too!

I loved the entire cast of characters in this book( well except for the mean girls) and I am so excited that this is only book one in a new series of standalone books. This was a perfect way to kick it off. We got a really good setup for the next book, A Gorgeous Villain. Callie’s story.

WOW!! Just WOW! Amo Jones has dang near left me speechless. In a puddle of emotions, all of my feelings torn to shreds. I was absolutely broken by the incredible masterpiece that is Sicko, before Amo Jones put me back together piece by piece. Let me start by saying that I think that Amo is incredibly talented and she gets better with every book she writes. As soon as I know she has a new book coming out, I immediately add it to my TBR, block out my schedule for it. This book was no different. It was everything I was hoping for, yet absolutely nothing like I was expecting it to be. It. Was.So.Much.More!
Royce and Jade’s characters are phenomenally written. Royce first meets Jade, when she is brought into the family as a baby (a foster) and then adopted by them. As they grew up they always had a special connection, but when they grew to teens it became an entirely different type of love and connection between them. Royce’s love caused him to be alpha and protective. Jade might have been young but it was more than jealousy and infatuation.
“We fight a lot, but we love hard and when it comes to him and me, one cannot exist without the other. “
Their story is dark and tragically devastating. Parts of it hurt badly to read. I was broken down and torn apart. I hurt for these two characters who were inevitably meant for one another. Royce left her right on the cusp of them finally getting to be together, and it devastated her. What she endured after was the stuff nightmares are made of, but it showed us the strength and resilience of this beautifully crafted character. She was amazing. She was a warrior, perseverance personified. Complex and strong. I rooted and cheered for her to get her happy ending. Because if anyone deserved it, it was most certainly her.
Royce/Sicko shredded me when he left Jade. I didn’t understand it. But…I knew and trusted that Amo would reveal to us why and who was behind Royce leaving and hurting Jade. However , the chain of events that happened to our Jade after he left was shocking, and unpredictable. It left me breathless and awestruck. I hung on every syllable of this book. Dangling on the edge of my seat. It was the perfect blend of dark and devastating, delicious and deviant. It was heartbreaking but at the same time full of hope. Truly it was the best kind of story. Triumph over tragedy, and what I love the most about dark romance. It was the forbidden dark romance I was looking for and didn’t even know it. At its very deepest, and darkest core, Amo Jones tells us a tragically beautiful tale of true love so strong that it slays the nastiest of demons, overcomes the most horrific of obstacles and forgiveness that heals even the most shattered and broken.

Holy hell!! These Dark Kings are gonna be responsible for the early death of panties everywhere, ladies. They are so hot and sexy that undergoods just spontaneously melt in their presence.
Grave!! Oh my Grave!! I went into his story not knowing quite what we were gonna get with him. This man is living his life on the edge. Playing Russian roulette with his life everyday with the choices he makes. Drugs, drinking, womanizing and chasing adrenaline in any way he can. The people that love him the most live in constant fear of when they are gonna find him dead and he doesn’t seem to care. He seems to have accepted his fate that he’s just going to end up in an early grave, and that’s preferable to dealing with the hurt that he’s had buried for so long.
He is beautiful, loyal to his family and wanted by many women, but this gorgeous man is broken. Broken beyond repair, or so he thinks. But can the right woman believe in him enough to make him believe he’s worth fixing? When he meets April she changes the way he looks at lots of things. He doesn’t even realize it’s happening and oh my heart never stood a chance. Swooning so hard!
April is this amazingly strong and resilient character who is working her fanny off to keep her flower shop afloat and care for her brother after her mother died. When Grave walks into her shop she is immediately drawn to him, to figuring out the intricacies of this complex and gorgeous man. She knows something isn’t quite right but she’s determined to figure it out, because she believes he’s worth it.
I love that he doesn’t feel the need to give into his vices when he is with her, she has become his new vice. His new addiction. She has this ability to help him heal without even realizing it. They are just amazing together. He’s just such a mess on his own in so many ways. But she brings out all the things in him that are the best parts. Boy, and there are many of them. All these are those parts that make him one of the elusive and elite dark kings.
I couldn’t stop reading this book the second I started until I was finished. This book was so full of everything I love and expect from Shantel’s books. Lots of yummy chemistry, suspense, lots of secrets, lies and angst. Hot scenes galore and unexpected edge of your seat moments. As always she gives us a full cast of characters to fall for, and I’m already starting to count the days until we get all of their stories.
Grave was another phenomenal addition/addiction to the Dark Kings series. I can’t wait for more!!

What an amazingly, unputdownable way to end the Hood River Hoodlums series. 🤩Each book in this series was unique and each couple tragically beautiful in their own way. This series is binge-worthy. You can’t help but to fall deeply in love with each character, their journey and their back story. I am super excited about the note to readers in the back of Hood River Zero. 🙌🏻
Terrance and Penny captured my heart🥰 a long time ago. Both of these characters have deep issues they are dealing with, but they are able to recognize they are each other’s perfect counterpart😍. They always just seem to know exactly what the other one needs. GAH! It’s precious and sweet and emotional. Penny was the one who brought Terrance out of the pit of despair he was in. Boy did she ever. Lol
She did it in that blunt, sharp witted tongue lashing way that only the “Mean-Ass Hoodlum” 😈 could bestow upon you. It was the way he needed to hear it too.
Penny struggles with issues of her own and has for years. When Terrance shows interest in wanting her to be his girl how will she respond? She knew she wasn’t normal inside and figured no one would ever really want her if they could see inside her head. Terrance immediately picked up her struggles and always anticipates her needs almost before she even does.

He is so drawn to her and is almost surprised when she went from Hollis’ little sister to his everything. But since he can’t get her out of his head then nothing will stop him from making her his. This book, like the others, is full of secrets, lies and suspense. All of our favorite Hoodlums must come together to help their own. Several things happen in this book that need some Hoodlum smackdown, and no one brings a beat down like a Hoodlum set out to protect the ones they love. This entire series is a much read.

My Review
Zhànshì by Anna Edwards is another great addition to the Sinister Fairytales collection. This is a dark retelling reminiscent of Disney’s Mulan.
This is the story of Lia, our modern day Mulan. Lia has gone undercover as Zhan in the Yi Shu( one of the Two Chinese gangs/Mafia running California), and that is where she meets Jaxon. A warrior serving in the Yi Shu. They have instant connections with one another. While he may not understand why he’s having such strong feelings for this man(which we know is not actually a man at all)
Before too long the truth will be revealed and Jaxon and Lia will have more problems on their hands. Will he be able to keep her safe when the others find out who she really is? Jaxon understands that she has such strength that she could be the difference in whether they will be celebrating a victory or defeat.
This was a modern take, with a old world feel to it. Like it had modern day gadgets, but seemed somewhat old in weaponry as the like.

MY REVIEW
Oh my friends! Harvest of Sighs just continues us on our quest and discovery, a perfect combination of mindfuckery and awe. Sierra Simone is a master crafter of words. She is a truly gifted writer. Her ability to continue to deliver shock value, sensuality, amazement, love, history and obsession with these characters is astounding. I have been hooked since book one and I will be honest, she continues to test the limits of my boundaries of comfort and I’m absolutely open-minded and okay with that. I’m enjoying this journey as a matter of fact.
I don’t want to go into much detail as I don’t want to risk anything spoilery. I will say, you MUST read these books in order. If you are up to this point, You know from book two we were left on quite the doozy of a cliffhanger. Some of our main characters( as well as many of us readers) are still struggling with this revelation. While this storyline’s “big” focus surrounds Delphine and Rebecca as a couple, our other four main characters are obviously still very much a huge part of the story as well.
There is so many more revelations about the history surrounding Thornchapel and our six main characters as well as their own parents that come out in this book. Their families and how they have been connected more than our crew could have even imagined back when their history quest first began. I’m so ready for Door of Bruises because I’m ready to know what happens. So many years of history, centuries long, secrets have come out and I’m a battlefield of different emotions and feelings. I’m intrigued, and curious. I’m a little worried and uncomfortable, but I can’t seem to help but to want more anyway. I’m terrified because of the way this book ended. It wasn’t like this huge bomber of a cliffhanger but it still hit me the gut. Because who TF will bear this huge burden of responsibility? You will understand what I’m saying when you read this! I’m addicted to the way this world has drawn me in and I want to know what’s going to happen. Will history continue to repeat itself?

While there is definitely more F/F in this book than the previous and it’s not something that I’m into IRL, it’s oddly fascinating and still semi-intoxicating to read at the same time. That’s because Sierra has this way about her writing. I’m just drawn into the almost magical feeling this book invokes in me. She definitely put more sensitive topics in this book than the previous books, however she gives a disclaimer at the beginning and she handles it very tastefully and with the utmost respect to the subject matter. I definitely recommend this series for anyone looking for something different and interesting and enchantingly amazing!

🌪Cliffhanger warning-There is a CLIFFHANGER. While not as major as book two. It’s definitely left me worried. This story is not resolved in this book if cliffhangers offend you, again this probably isn’t the book for you or wait until the series is complete.
