Holy Moly! This author and her ability to flay my heart right open with her phenomenally unforgettable stories. Every single one that I read imprints itself on my heart and I find myself thinking back on them often. This story was no exception.
From the moment I started it I was intrigued with the way we started off. It was obvious there is lots of history, and heartbreaking circumstances just waiting to be revealed. The characters immediately capture me like beacons. Both for different reasons. Both still hurting and suffering from what all we just donโt know yet. But what we can tell is that there is definitely a special connection between them, and their reactions to that draw towards each other is completely different.
Lucyโs character made me feel so much. I laughed, I cried, I rooted for her, I hurt for her. Right now, I feel so much for her. Right nowโฆ I am NOT OKAY! Cal is everything I want in my book boyfriend. Heโs gorgeous, heโs tatted, heโs mean yet protective. Heโs all anti-relationship yet possessive AF. Heโs hurt yโall. And hurt people hurt people.

This book is such a rollercoaster of emotions. I went from my heart all a flutter, to furious, to fanning myself because itโs freaking HAWT! ๐ฅ Then I was swooning, swearinโ, and shouting hot mess. This book had me feelings every emotion. All the thighs. Even at my lowest points in the book I wouldnโt trade a second.
This is probably my FAVORITE of the series. Just Phenomenal, Fantastic, Terrifically Unforgettable. Fifth and final standalone book in the St. Maryโs Rebels is not to be missed. If Meagan Brandy writes I can almost guaran-damn-tee that It for sure is gonna be my jam. Crew and Davis just DID IT FOR ME! Off the charts explosive of course, but this kept just throwing my feels in a whirlwind. I wasnโt expecting that. Iโm so used to the arrogant alpha holes in MBโs books that the broken bad boy trying to overcome the past really put a hurtinโ on this galโs ticker. He melted me, made me swoon, made me pant. Everything about him just worked for me.
Davis was as sweet as candy and I loved how she felt about Crew. She was quirky and funny. ๐ Beyond beautiful both inside and out but with this innocence and radiance โ๏ธthat people are drawn to. I am absolutely destroyed at the moment. This book gutted me. I wasnโt quite sure what I was going to get when I started. As this is A- my first read by this author so Iโm unfamiliar with her style, which I am discovering is a tragedy in itself because OMG where has Author Brit Benson been in my life the last few years?! And B- because other than the blurb that TBH I read a while back when I signed up to read this, I went in blind not really knowing too much of what to expect. Which turned out to be the way to go anyway.
Blind is best yโall. My recommended way to go, always. Now, I had my assumptions based upon said blurb, butโฆ You know what they say about assumptions and all!ย Blurb had me thinking โ okay, this is going to be the whole โgood girl falls for an anti-hero thatโs going to grow on us.โ and I can totally get on board with a good โol enemies to lovers any day of the week and twice on Sundayโs. I mean it was an enemies to lovers, and this book does take place in high school, but these were anything but your typical high school sweethearts. This book was unlike ANYTHING I have ever read. Original storyline with phenomenally written, flawed characters gave us an engaging and gripping story. Aย gritty and realness that is sure to leave you emotionally raw long after the cliffy at the end leaves you breathless. I know it did me.ย
From the very beginning I fell for Macon hook, line, and sinker. Heโs so tantalizingly toxic, and I should be ashamed that Iโm so twisted because I die harder for the toxic ones. But Iโm not even a little ashamed.ย Yes, he was definitely cruel at times, he was messed up, he was for sure trouble with a capital T. But he was also misunderstood, he was damaged, he was broken, self destructive,ย hurt, and he was so much more than what people saw him for. It wasnโt just the way people saw him, it was the way he saw himself.
He just made me feel everything. I wanted to simultaneously hit him upside his head to knock some sense into him and pull him to me and just hug him and heal all his hurts. He broke my heart, he melted my heart, he made me hot. Holy Hot Hell ๐ฅ๐ถ๐ฅ๐ถ did he ever make me hot. The ones withย the bad egg rep yโall, Iโm telling you. They just do it for me. What is wrong with me? In real life my hubby is as straight-laced as they come.ย Lol That’s probably why I like my fictional fellas fully fubarโd! (Not completely. I do want him redeemable)ย ย
Lennon is amazing. Sheโs got a heart of gold, she is who she is and sheโs comfortable with herself. She is creative, a rule follower, and selfless friend. Honestly she gets the short end of the stick sometimes because with most of the people in her life she doesnโt stand up for herselfโฆexcept with Macon. He seems to be the person in the world who can get her the most fired up. The way they verbally spar. He brings out this lively feisty spirited side to her that no one else sees. I can feelย how she finds herself struggling with her feelings for him, it practically jumps off the pages. She is at war with everything. The things he does, the way he treats her, the things others have to say about the kind of person he is. It all weighs heavily on her mind.
But things start to happen and she finds herself around him more and more and she sees glimpses that there is so much more to him. All of these discoveries are breaking down her walls. However the more walls they tear down, the more life seems to throw back up in their way. I just connected with her character so deeply. The writer did such an amazing job I was so invested and emotional I had to take moments and remind myself that I wasnโt actually there. I didnโt need to throw down with anyone in real life to stand up for some injustice that was being done to my girl. I mean I could chuck my kindle, and almost did several times. I could cry, which I absolutely did. A lot. I could cuss, did that as well. But at the end of that chapter I pressed on. Until press on I could no moreโฆand now we wait.ย ย
My angsty frustration level is at an all time high. The tension between them is palpable. I live for the kind of rush this book was giving me. This book is a catastrophic collision of every emotion under the sun. Past trauma, damaged hearts, addiction, forbidden love, secrets, mistakes, lies and betrayal rips through their lives. Told in dual alternating POV, book one in the Next Live Duet will leave you grasping the edge of your seat, tears in your eyes, wanting to IM the author immediately to demand book two, before I die of impatience. Can one actually die of impatience? I feel like I just might. But in all actuality this book is fantastic. While it is full of sensitive content. It is beautifully written, the parallels to real life make it tragically devastating especially given where it has left us at this point. I am also filled with a smidge of hope. Deep in my core I believe in true love and I believe these two are inevitable soul mates. But I think they ( and us readers) will be put through a gut-wrenching journey, the likes of one which we wonโt recover from immediately( because these characters have already captured our hearts.)

Trust me when I tell you Fame is a story like no other. Jensen and Mia are two imperfect humans who just happen to be perfect for each other. Bringing you the best by giving you a little taste of everything, this sinful and sexy romance is slap full of secrets, lies and mystery. Not skimping on the angst, steam, banter, tension, and a good โol swoony and southern, Georgia bred country boy to come in and make everything all better (this Georgia girl might be biased but thereโs nothing hotter than a GA boy) I promise this book has something for every reader. It will captivate you from paragraph one until the very last sentence. Not just a book but an unputdownable journey to unite two amazingly unique and inspiring characters who against any obstacles that may come between them truly belong together. But what to do when love is inevitable between two people and one is dang near ready to sprint in the opposite direction away from it? Will love bring them together or will Fame tear them apart?
Mia is really a special character. She is one of the most unselfish of heroines I have ever had the pleasure of reading, yet her circumstances broke my heart over and over again. Her strength and dedication to her family was commendable. How could you not fall in love with her story? This amazing woman who sacrificially suffered for those she loved most in the world. It was devastating and inspiring at the same time. The internal conflicts are gut-wrenching. But I was so immersed in this story I really felt her struggle and found myself battling the what would I do in real life?
I think her battles with the life she was forced into and its impact on her character as a person just made me love her more. She was a deeply loving character but as much love as she had for others she didnโt have it for herself. I wanted to be able to jump into the book and just hug her and tell her I see you. You are beautiful and I see you for who you are. I see you for why and not what you have to do. She was existing, getting by and surviving. But she wasnโt living. She wasnโt enjoying her life. Until she met Jensen. He brought life back into her. He made her feel things no one ever had. It put the carefully crafted walls sheโd put up to hide her secrets behind at risk of crumbling down around her. But for the first time she began to think she finally found someone who might be worth the risk. But there is still so much he doesnโt know about her. What will happen when the truth comes to light?

Jensen is deliciously swoony and without a doubt book HUSBAND material. I say husband because this man is better than a book boyfriend. Boy oh boy was he ever hot and so dreamy too yโall.

He certainly wasnโt looking for a relationship, but he was instantly drawn to the beautiful yet emotionally barricaded girl from the third floor of his new office building. Quickly he finds himself unable to resist the need to get to know and win this woman over. He knows it will be no easy feat but not one to give up; he sets out to win her over. Heโs just so stinking sweet. He is caring and thoughtful. Successful but humble. Supportive and protective. Loving and kind. Gah! The way he was with her melted me into a puddle of goo yโall! But alas, I cannot actually be a part of the story and that is just the mark of a truly talented author, the fact that they make you forget that you arenโt. This author does this to me. In a lot of ways, I did have herโฆ I had her first steps, her first words, her first smile. I had her milestones, her heartbreaks, her dreams. I had her heart so woven in with mine, I didnโt know where she ended, and I began.
Only, as the years pressed on, lines became blurredโand the blurrier the line, the easier it is to cross.
They say tragedy comes in threes.
For me, that was true.
The first one changed me, the second one broke me, and the third one healed me.
But at the center of all that tragedyโฆ there is a love story. And at the center of that love story, There is June.
