OMG!! Break Me! Royce Brayshaw is something else. Break Me it did indeed. Royce and Brielle broke me over and over again. I think I knew even before I read this book that I was going to truly take the most special, most spectacular of heroines to tame our Uncle Bro.
He is the most rowdy, the most broken, the one with arguably the biggest heart. His journey to love was gonna to be full of angst, heartache and, frustration and fears. For such a broken boy as he, we just knew he would fight like hell not to be vulnerable.
Brielle was absolutely the perfect match “Tink” for Royce her “Lost Boy” in every single way! She was feisty and sassy and for all intents and purposes she had every right to give life the big ol’ middle finger but she was still a total sweetheart. With Royce she definitely gave as good as she got, but he totally needed to be put in his place that way. He needed a girl that would verbally spar with him not just roll over and smile and bat her eyes at everything he said. I’m so sad to see the end of this series but couldn’t have been happier with Royce’s ending. I cried SO many times during this book.
This was a hard fought battle to HEA. It’s hard when people don’t think they are deserving of the good things that come their way. My poor heart. I didn’t know how much more I could take. But like she always does, Meagan Brandy being the perfect craftswoman of words she is, brings us to the brink, emotionally breaking us before she will perfectly put us back together again in the end. Get ready to feel all the feelings! Love, frustration, heat, sex, lies, surprises, tears, forgiveness. Just everything. At its core it’s about being broken, shattered in the worst possible ways, and happening upon your one perfect person who has the capabilities to put your broken pieces back together again. He was a tsunami of anger and resentment at the world, ready to unleash his fury onto anyone at any given time and we needed to see that build up of madness to really appreciate just how much of a transformation we see in his character. It was truly extraordinary.
Presley is gorgeous and sassy and at first wants NOTHING to do with playboy Kent. But Kent can’t help to be drawn to the fiery bartender and wants nothing more than to own her body, but who knew she would end up owning his heart. This beautifully broken girl, this phoenix who has risen from the ashes of her grief and put herself back together again after tragedies from her past is everything he never knew he needed and all that he wants most in the world. She is strong, she is courageous, she is everything and more. She is the picture of perseverance and the perfect heroine for our Kent. WOW!! Just WOW! Amo Jones has dang near left me speechless. In a puddle of emotions, all of my feelings torn to shreds. I was absolutely broken by the incredible masterpiece that is Sicko, before Amo Jones put me back together piece by piece. Let me start by saying that I think that Amo is incredibly talented and she gets better with every book she writes. As soon as I know she has a new book coming out, I immediately add it to my TBR, block out my schedule for it. This book was no different. It was everything I was hoping for, yet absolutely nothing like I was expecting it to be. It. Was.So.Much.More!
Royce and Jade’s characters are phenomenally written. Royce first meets Jade, when she is brought into the family as a baby (a foster) and then adopted by them. As they grew up they always had a special connection, but when they grew to teens it became an entirely different type of love and connection between them. Royce’s love caused him to be alpha and protective. Jade might have been young but it was more than jealousy and infatuation.
“We fight a lot, but we love hard and when it comes to him and me, one cannot exist without the other. “
Their story is dark and tragically devastating. Parts of it hurt badly to read. I was broken down and torn apart. I hurt for these two characters who were inevitably meant for one another. Royce left her right on the cusp of them finally getting to be together, and it devastated her. What she endured after was the stuff nightmares are made of, but it showed us the strength and resilience of this beautifully crafted character. She was amazing. She was a warrior, perseverance personified. Complex and strong. I rooted and cheered for her to get her happy ending. Because if anyone deserved it, it was most certainly her.
Royce/Sicko shredded me when he left Jade. I didn’t understand it. But…I knew and trusted that Amo would reveal to us why and who was behind Royce leaving and hurting Jade. However , the chain of events that happened to our Jade after he left was shocking, and unpredictable. It left me breathless and awestruck. I hung on every syllable of this book. Dangling on the edge of my seat. It was the perfect blend of dark and devastating, delicious and deviant. It was heartbreaking but at the same time full of hope. Truly it was the best kind of story. Triumph over tragedy, and what I love the most about dark romance. It was the forbidden dark romance I was looking for and didn’t even know it. At its very deepest, and darkest core, Amo Jones tells us a tragically beautiful tale of true love so strong that it slays the nastiest of demons, overcomes the most horrific of obstacles and forgiveness that heals even the most shattered and broken.

What an amazingly, unputdownable way to end the Hood River Hoodlums series. 🤩Each book in this series was unique and each couple tragically beautiful in their own way. This series is binge-worthy. Terrance and Penny captured my heart🥰 a long time ago. Both of these characters have deep issues they are dealing with, but they are able to recognize they are each other’s perfect counterpart😍. They always just seem to know exactly what the other one needs. GAH! It’s precious and sweet and emotional. Penny was the one who brought Terrance out of the pit of despair he was in. Boy did she ever. Lol
She did it in that blunt, sharp witted tongue lashing way that only the “Mean-Ass Hoodlum” 😈 could bestow upon you. It was the way he needed to hear it too.
Penny struggles with issues of her own and has for years. When Terrance shows interest in wanting her to be his girl how will she respond? She knew she wasn’t normal inside and figured no one would ever really want her if they could see inside her head. Terrance immediately picked up her struggles and always anticipates her needs almost before she even does.

I am such a jumble of emotions over The Jezebel. Dylan Allen always writes the most fantastically poignant stories. Tales that draw you in to the point you are so wrapped up, so invested in the lives of the characters you feel every shock, and barb to the heart along with them. You also celebrate the successes, feel the burden of the hurts and fears and fist pump in the air when they finally overcome adversities.
That’s what this story was for me. It was riveting and special. Regan Wilde and Stone Rivers are the star crossed lovers, who were never supposed to be together. This phenomenal reverse age-gap, forbidden, brother’s best friend’s romance is like no other.
This isn’t a tale of the rich cougar, shacking up with the hot young guy on vacay. This is about two souls that were born for each other, who were inevitable. A man and a woman from families that have deep rooted hatred for each other and were never supposed to be. Dreamers that hoped for the day when they could freely be together, not just bask in stolen moments. Will they ever be able to combat all the crap life will throw their way when their secret is discovered?

Regan is stunning and sassy and resilient. Over the course of her college years through when she meets Stone again she endures some of the most horrific things. How the Jezebel comes about. OMG. My poor heart. There were moments when I didn’t think I could take another moment. It was excruciatingly heartbreaking. But the complexity of her character was awe inspiring and you could help but to root for her to get back everything she deserved and more.
Stone Rivers was a brilliant, broken boy the first time she saw him. As a man Stone was beautiful, and deliciously dirty. He was everything she needed and wasn’t supposed to have at the same time. He became something wonderful with his life. He could have been a cocky player but he was good to his core. I love this man. I wanted him to have the goddess of his dreams forever. But I wasn’t sure if it was in the cards for him. I loved that he took what time he had with Regan to build her up, to give her confidence and strength.
GAH! This book was magically written. It captures everything from the chemistry between them, the overwhelming angst, the heart-wrenching moments and even funny moments. All of it together made this story the perfect- unputdownable, invested until the last sentence, rollercoaster of emotions. It’s one of those books you can’t stop reading so you devour, but want to savor at the same time. Because you know when the time comes you won’t be ready to let these characters go. It’s faced paced, engaging and unexpected. This is the third stand-alone book in the Rivers Wilde series.
