I am NOT okay you guys! 😭

You know my friends, there will come a time you will read a book that will touch you so profoundly that it will leave you wandering aimlessly for days afterwards in a perpetual state of shock, worry, and frustration. You will go through tears, sadness, still thinking about the book, going back and reading parts again. You will be anticipating the next book and at the same time overcome with so much emotion from the first book. 

THIS was my emotional state after reading Opium Skies. I was not only riding the hot mess express, I’m the freaking train conductor of that bitch. I am so blown away and in awe of C.M.Radcliff  and at the brilliance that she displayed in this book. If you haven’t read her yet…STOP EVERYTHING NOW!! And start devouring her books, because you my book lovin buddies, have been missing out. 

Ander and Hadley’s story hurts, y’all. I’m not gonna lie.  It’s so rivetingly raw and serves you up the harsh truths of love in a world of addiction. What it’s like to be head over heels in love with a liar, with a promise breaker, with someone who will hurt you, because they ultimately love the high more than they love themselves. 

This book is gut-wrenching in its realness, it cuts to the core, because it’s so authentic. I felt like I had a front row seat to the events as they unfolded. Because this author’s attention to detail was top notch. I could close my eyes and picture every single detail. Sights, sounds and smells. No detail too small, just enough to paint the perfect picture in my mind. I mentally was on this journey with them. From the witty banter fun filled moments, to the sexy and steamy moments. 

To the moments that left me crying my eyes out a blubbering mess (and totally getting WTF looks from my family) my friends, be ready to hurt for these characters that I fell so quickly in love with. You will too!  Characters that are by no means perfect, but imperfectly perfect phenomenally written characters. They had unbelievable chemistry from the get go which made their obstacles that much more heartbreaking. I can’t wait for the next book because I am literally left on the edge of my seat grasping at any hint of what’s to come of these characters.

I want them to have the future not only I desire for them but that I think they deserve. I’m holding out hope for a HEA,  but I also know that it seems like at this point my loves, Hadley and Ander are going to have to go through the nine circles of hell and back  to get to that HEA. That is even if they even have a shot… And right now, they have just passed that first circle of hell. Love isn’t the issue. One is on a fast path of destruction…Question is will they take the other down with them?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐⭐⭐️-I am SO in LOVE with this book Y’ALL! I could literally go on for days, actually for weeks about this book because it is still on my mind, heart and soul. Get ready y’all because it WILL take you on a crash course of feelings. complete with loop-de-loops and backwards crawls!  But I happen to believe there is nothing that feels like the release you get from a good release of the build up of tears that can only come with an epic book hangover kind of therapeutic cry!

EXCERPT

My eyes fly open and I glance at the door, meeting his stormy blue eyes. 
“What the fuck are you doing, Hadley?” Ander barks as his entire body consumes the doorway. Everyone in the room freezes, glancing between the two of us. 
Narrowing my eyes, I hold his gaze, challenging him as I slide the rolled-up bill across the surface of the dresser, deeply inhaling the bright white powder. My eyes never leave Ander’s as I drop the bill onto the dresser and stand upright, sniffing harder. Ander steps into the room, his entire presence consumes every inch of the space. The two guys in the room instinctively step back, knowing better than to get in his way right now. 
Ander’s eyes are honed in on mine and they burn with the deepest shades of blue. A complete contradiction to the storm that brews within his expression. He stops in front of me, reaching out and grabs my chin. Tilting my head to look back at him, he leans in, his lips just barely touching mine. 
“You wanna play like that, little girl?” He breathes against my lips as a sinister smile pulls on the corners of his lips. “Game on.” 
Quickly releasing me, Ander nudges me to the side and plucks the rolled-up bill from the wood surface. Crossing my arms over my chest, I watch him, slightly amused as he leans over the dresser. Within a matter of seconds, he inhales the remaining lines left and stands back to look at me. 
His pupils are already constricted, but I watch as they transform into just small dots, with his blue irises consuming them. Ander looks down at me with a sly grin playing on his lips, waiting for me to make the next move. 
Abruptly grabbing me by the throat, he pulls me flush against him. My breath catches in my throat. His touch burns against my skin and the blazing fire settles throughout my body, mixing with the euphoria from the Oxy and everything else in my system. 
Heat spreads from my stomach and a warmth creeps between my legs as he leans closer, his warm breath skating across my face. Just as his lips are about to capture mine, he ducks his head to the side, pressing his lips against my ear. 
“Ball’s in your court, babe,” he breathes, his words only meant for me to hear and lightly squeezes my throat. “Your move.”

Mind.Offically.Blown!🤯 This phenomenal book, part one to the amazing new duet by Kate Stewart is shocking, awe inspiring, thought provoking and suspenseful. The level of chemistry is astronomical.

I will do my very best to not give anything about this book away so I am going to keep it as vague as possible. 

This is the story of Cecelia and Sean, her supervisor at her new job working for her father’s company. They meet in employee orientation and sparks are immediate. When she meets his roommates a different dimension is added to this story. After his wickedly delicious roommate Dominic comes on the scene, this entire book takes you on a journey of forbidden, temptation personified.

It’s a world of secrets, lies and obsession, and Cecelia finds herself caught up in it all. I can’t wait to see what happens in book two, because the end of book one sure left me breathless.😱

My Review

Holy Cow you guys! Aggro was PHENOMENAL! Like top reads of 2020, phenomenal! I went into this book expecting something totally different than what I got, but I wasn’t disappointed by this fact in.any.way. This book is so powerful it will grab a hold of you and embed itself so deeply into your mind, heart and soul it will consume you until you have devoured every single word. 

Aggro is the story of Breeze, Chase and Kai, three teens bound by grief over the death of Violet. Violet was Breeze’s best friend, twin sister to Chases and in a toxic relationship with Kai. This is a story of how the three of them deal with this tragic loss, as not only individuals but together. My heart felt like it was in a vice over and over. Just the amazing writing of CLJ and CG was so vivid and with such clear attention to detail I had to keep reminding myself ( you are not there, you don’t really know these people Irl) because I was a mess y’all.😭 Seriously, hot mess express! 😭😭

They set out on a quest desperate for answers. Three teens plagued by guilt, hurt, anger, and  survivor’s guilt. They are all working to put the pieces together to find out what happened the night of Violet’s violent death and the secrets she had been keeping from everyone that led up to her death. But will they be able to handle the truth when they get it? 

Now, if you are like me, a bit of a cover ho, you assume by the amazing cover that we are getting a story from a Hero’s POV. However that isn’t how this goes down at all. It is even better. This amazing story takes place in a picturesque beach island town. We get POV’s from Breeze, Chase and Kai and I love this so much because each one is struggling in a different way to come to terms with what has happened. To have the story told in their voice as they are experiencing the different emotions is so emotional and powerful, it just takes the story to another level of awesome, and I’m so happy the authors did it this way. These three and their constant struggle with wondering who could have committed this crime and maybe at times even wonder about each other. 

What I love is that no matter how many times you think you might have figured what’s going on or what’s gonna happen next CoraLee and Carrie pull the rug right out from under you. 

I loved all of these characters. Breeze was the sweet wallflower that was always the silent shadow behind her outgoing best friend, Violet. She assumed she was never seen but that is far from the truth. For the longest time she had a crush on Chase but sister code prevented her from ever making a move. 

Chase was hot, he was also a getaround girl hopper. He loved his sister and he loved Breeze. It seemed like he loved her like a sister but who knows maybe it could have been more at one time? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Then you have Kai, the one they call an Aggro, “which was an aggressive surfer, taking chances most of us wouldn’t.” He was gorgeous and tattooed, but when he was with Violet they were all wrong for each other. They were the very definition of toxicity. But when he looked at Breeze. Well that was a different story. 

I won’t say anymore as not to give spoilers, but you NEED this book in your life like you need AIR. It will draw you in like a rip tide and pull you under in its clutches and twist you, turn you about, take your breath, scare you, and then finally spin you backout the other side. You will never be the same, you will remember the feeling of it always. 

I can’t possibly recommend this book enough. If I could custom order a book to be written for me with all the things I want in it, this would be what was delivered to me, but then when I opened the box and started reading my book there would be unexpected bonus material in it. That’s how fantastically, phenomenally, unforgettably amazing this book is!! CoraLee June and Carrie Gray slayed this book!!

You get murder, mystery, suspense, sexy, angsty goodness. But you also get the swoony, sweet, and forgiveness. You get a book where enemies become allies. I was on the edge of my seat and I was here for it all! I will definitely re-read this book. Because honestly I’m not ready to let these characters go. That epilogue y’all. I’m pretty sure my jaw is still ON.THE.FLOOR!😱

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥- GAH! The love scenes were smokin hot and sensual. They weren’t rushed, they were believable and felt authentic. So flippin ‘HAWT!! 🔥🔥

🌪Cliffhanger Warning- I loved the ending so much. I will say I got the SHOCK of my life at the end. I was gobsmacked. I was fantastic!!!!

I have always loved to read. In kindergarten, I was the weird kid sitting in the reading nook by myself instead of trying to get more snacks. I’m excited to be putting my own voice on the page and watching a story I helped create come to life. I still love to read, but I also really like snacks.

I grew up in Chicago but recently moved back to the Dallas area where I live with my husband and son.

I have my Bachelor of Science in Biology. I spent a year researching chimpanzees and gorillas while I was in Chicago and then I spent another two months on a chimpanzee sanctuary trying to convince headstrong chimps to cooperate. My Review

Holy Freakin’ Hell!! DEAD Y’ALL!💀 My heart, My Head, My Words. I’m a complete jumble of emotions and thoughts and there’s not a single bit of it I’m emotionally ready to articulate into words. Even if I could I wouldn’t. However it doesn’t matter because I’m just not ready!! The angst, the tears, the drama.  Mary Catherine filled these pages with powerfully potent words tearing out my heart and soul with nothing short of Pure literary perfection!! 🙌🏻💀🙌🏻

This book picks right up where my shattered heart was left at the end of Stolen Soulmate. We find ourselves back in the illustrious would of the rich and privileged. The Crownes and DuLac families living out the legacies of time honored traditions, and right in the center you have Grayson, Story, Lottie, and West. The puzzle pieces that will bring it all together. 

Y’all!!  I’m telling you…Fate was a dagger 🗡 to the hearts 💔 of those who dared to believe in it, and I believed!! This book has left me an absolute gutted wrecked mess. I am not okay! I don’t know how to recover from this book. It was so phenomenal and beyond everything I was hoping for it to be. It knocked me on my fanny folks. Like blew me away with the unexpected shock of being nothing I could have predicted. Which I absolutely loved!! Shock value is priceless!  In the most amazingly fantastic ways. I literally felt every emotion under the sun. I have cried, and swooned. Boy I wanted to throttle so many characters along the way. I decided to chuck my sweet kindle across the room out of frustration. (Okay, so I didn’t actually do it, but I did sit it on the coffee table and sure gave it a good long side eye from the couch though)

 

I’m telling you this book will leave you spent in the best way ever. You will cry all the tears, your body heat will rise,  you will root… well for whomever you root for. You will want more, because there will NEVER be enough. It is oh so angsty and hot and steamy. You will long for more and probably need a re-read almost immediately. Buy this book today!! But heed my warning, my friends. Prepare to be shooketh to the core and left with the most epic of book hangovers.

My Review

How in the world do I move on from this book. From Saxon and Isla, characters that have embedded this deep into my heart? Well, I’m not sure that I can, but my hope, my saving grace for my poor heart, is that we hopefully get glimpses of them again in books two and three, Saxon’s brothers stories. 

So, prepare yourself my friends, Saxon Priest and Isla Quinn’s story is going to gut you, it will rock you to your core, it will torture you, and I assure you, you will love every.single.word of it! Road to Fire is book one in the Broken Crown Trilogy and while it is not a standalone and does end on a storyline cliffhanger, our couple Saxon and Isla get a HEA in this book. 

I love Saxon Priest, I really, really do. He’s gruff, and gritty and harsh and hides behind that exterior. He is so complex, there are layers upon tragic layers to this man. For those and many more reasons he doesn’t do relationships or attachments.

Then you have the gorgeous Isla Quinn. She is sweet, yet feisty and fearless. Like a real booty kickin chick y’all! She hides many secrets and lies behind her eyes and quick witted sarcasm. There are so many reasons they should never fit together. Saxon is dominant and alpha and she’s strong and independent. Those things alone would make them a challenge for each other. She has no problems standing up to him. She’s got grit and a spine of steel. But like two magnets drawn to one another, it was inevitable they would come together. I for one could not wait! This would be an epic throw down when temptation won out, of that I was sure! These two are dynamic. They are off the charts hot.

“You couldn’t handle a man like me and I would never fuck a girl like you.”

Everything about these two managed to take my emotions on a trip through the tumble dryer and I came out a bit of a mess.  They made me laugh, cry, swoon, scream in frustration, fan myself cause they are oh so HAWT! Then I cheered, I cried again, fist bumped the air and then gave a big ol’ southern “hell yeah” ‘ holler and was breathless again by the end! 

Maria Luis crafted such an amazing tale full of murder, lies, darkness and intrigue. But y’all, her brilliance shines more than ever in this book. I would definitely say it’s her BEST BOOK YET!! She vividly painted this beautifully eerie, and twisted story, with rainy and smoggy settings, sounds , smells, sights, in such exquisite details that if I closed my eyes I could almost visualize this playing out like a movie in my head. I’m telling you my friends. YOU MUST READ THIS!! 

Maria Luis will shock you over and over again. This story will suck you into its web of lies and deception. When secrets are revealed and choices must be made, will Saxon and Isla overcome all the obstacles mounting against them, can their love conquer all?

My Review

Holy Apocalypse that wasn’t an actual Apocalypse!! I am so glad this trilogy is not over yet. Although, I’m not so sure that I will EVER be ready to let Wes and Rain go! I have become so obsessed with what happens to them. I devoured this book, hung on every single syllable, until that ENDING knocked me off at the knees. Not gonna lie, I’m a little terrified. No,Y’all! I’m A LOT terrified. I Can’t Even think about what this could mean. 

BB Easton, what are you planning to do to my heart?  

“I knew from the moment I first laid eyes on Rainbow Williams that I would end up dying for her.”

 I don’t think I have ever been so glad an author is releasing the second and third books so close together. Two week is practically back-to-back when you are as in love with the characters and storyline, as I am. 

Oh a really awesome thing about this book is that it gave you just enough nuggets of backstory info that it immediately jogs your memories to all the monumental stuff that happened in Praying for Rain. You can totally jump and be swept right back into Franklin Springs and what’s left of its surrounding towns.   

Good gravy at the character transformation in this book. I am so utterly in love with Wes and Rain’s characters. GAH I love how he looked at her, how he touches and cares for her. Oh.My.Gawd!  SO HAWTTTTT! The way he become EVERYTHING to her. He taught her important lessons in survival. He had saved her so many times when she almost died. She knew as long as she was with him he would take care of her and everything would be okay. She looked at him like he was her protector, her saviour and her lover and future all in one perfect package.  

“I would follow this man to the ends of the earth, which , from the looks of it, might be right here at Pitchard Park Mall.”

 Wes shows us more of a vulnerable and less confident side to him than what would have expected. I think that when he and Rain are faced with things from their past, especially hers, he just  acts impulsively as a defense mechanism to protect himself. Unfortunately, that will cause him to make some choices that are heartbreaking. 

Rain becomes stronger like Wes taught her to be and she channels everything into being a caretaker. Even though she’s rocking some pretty savage PTSD she’s still managing to kick tail and take names and not just take everything that gets thrown at her. I hated what she had to go through and the circumstances surrounding it, but she is so much stronger for it. I get the feeling going forward she is sure going to need it. 

There is a big chunk of the book where you are saddened by the turn of events, but I understood it and hoped it would change going forward. When hit with a gut-wrenching reality of what the new future looks like, Wes realizes that no matter what he will always protect his girl. 

“This woman found me broken and made me whole, and I’m suddenly determined to do the same for her.”

 As soon as you think you have figured out WTF is happening and your heart is safe…B.B. Easton will deliver a gut punch so hard it will knock you straight on your flippin fanny! Because that ENDING!! Are Y’all ready?!?! This MUST be you next read. IT’S that freakin’ PHENOMENAL!! If you haven’t read book one, start this TODAY!!!

⭐️⭐⭐⭐⭐️- Obsessed with Rain and Wes. I was shocked by the twists and turns that came out about the “April 23” plan. This book was way more that in could have even predicted and I honestly had super high expectations going in. BB Easton blew them away and then some.  That ending though… that ending left my eyes filled with tears, my heart overrun with fear, hope, awe, and excitement and anticipation for the conclusion, Dying for Rain.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥-OMG! HOLY HOT DANG! No matter what Wes and Rain are super explosive. They are fire and sparks and sometimes a sweet in a dirty way,  just everything amazingly yummy I want in love scenes.
