Oh my book lovin’ friends do I have a fantabulous book rec for y’all. The Devil You Know by Elizabeth O’Roark is the next MUST READ book to pick up and devour ASAP. This third standalone book in the Devil series features Ben and Gemma’s story and once again has knocked the last book in the series right out of the top spot to become my new FAVORITE of this series. This was such a great combo of so many of my favorite things that I could not read this fast enough. This is enemies to lovers, work place, boss/employee, secret romance perfection. It has an idyllic amount of angst, delicious spice aplenty and banter for days.
Ben Tate and Gemma Charles are both Lawyers at the same firm. Gemma is sassy and fierce. She has goals and works extremely hard because she wants to be the first woman at the firm to be made partner. Gemma is beautiful and sexy but she has a good and caring heart, but like many successful women working hard to move up in the corporate world she is called names for her drive and determination. Often being referred to as cold or aloof. She just wants to make partner and meet the perfect romcom worthy guy and get her HEA. Is that too much to ask for? Ben is drop dead gorgeous, and everyone loves him. Everything about him grates on every last nerve Gemma has. He is a partner at the firm, so technically her boss. When the firm gets the case that could make her career, who else is assigned to work side by side with her but the man she loathes more than any other. Of.frickin.Course!!
I fell head over heels for Ben Tate. He may have come across as a big ‘ol weiner 🌭 at first but he quickly changed this gals mind. He was whitty, sarcastically charming, smart, the absolutely ideal amount of addictingly alpha and possessively protective. He took charge when needed but didn’t take over. He would fight for Gemma while still allowing her to fight for herself. He is without a doubt book boyfriend goals. It’s gonna take some big feets for someone to fill his shoes in my current man spot. Even days later I find my thoughts drifting back to him and Gemma and their phenomenal chemistry. 🔥🥵🔥
I love this book so much. This workplace/enemies to lovers romance just hit different. The emotion, the heat, the feels. Oh My Heart, the feels. These characters are unforgettable. From their “banter o’hate” to the smexy tension ready to burst, the breaking down of their walls, to when they finally start to realize what they hadn’t noticed before. *Chefs Kiss* 💋
This is FOR SURE a book ( like the other two in the series) that I will be going back to for a reread. FIVE it’s FREAKING FANTASTICALLY FLABBERGASTING STARS!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Meet Elizabeth
Elizabeth O’Roark spent many years as a medical writer before publishing her first novel in 2013. She holds bachelor’s degrees in journalism and arts from the University of Texas, and a master’s degree in counseling psychology from the University of Notre Dame. She is the author of eight novels and recipient of the 2017 IBPA gold medal for romance. She lives in Washington DC with her three children.
