My Review

I am such a jumble of emotions over The Jezebel. Dylan Allen always writes the most fantastically poignant stories. Tales that draw you in to the point you are so wrapped up, so invested in the lives of the characters you feel every shock, and barb to the heart along with them. You also celebrate the successes, feel the burden of the hurts and fears and fist pump in the air when they finally overcome adversities. 

That’s what this story was for me. It was riveting and special. Regan Wilde and Stone Rivers are the star crossed lovers, who were never supposed to be together. This phenomenal reverse age-gap, forbidden, brother’s best friend’s romance is like no other.  

This isn’t a tale of the rich cougar, shacking up with the hot young guy on vacay. This is about two souls that were born for each other, who were inevitable. A man and a woman from families that have deep rooted hatred for each other and were never supposed to be. Dreamers that hoped for the day when they could freely be together, not just bask in stolen moments. Will they ever be able to combat all the crap life will throw their way when their secret is discovered?

Regan is stunning and sassy and resilient. Over the course of her college years through when she meets Stone again she endures some of the most horrific things. How the Jezebel comes about. OMG. My poor heart. There were moments when I didn’t think I could take another moment. It was excruciatingly heartbreaking. But the complexity of her character was awe inspiring and you could help but to root for her to get back everything she deserved and more.

Stone Rivers was a brilliant, broken boy the first time she saw him. As a man Stone was beautiful, and deliciously dirty. He was everything she needed and wasn’t supposed to have at the same time. He became something wonderful with his life. He could have been a cocky player but he was good to his core. I love this man. I wanted him to have the goddess of his dreams forever. But I wasn’t sure if it was in the cards for him. I loved that he took what time he had with Regan to build her up, to give her confidence and strength. 

GAH! This book was magically written. It captures everything from the chemistry between them, the overwhelming angst, the heart-wrenching moments and even funny moments. All of it together made this story the perfect- unputdownable, invested until the last sentence, rollercoaster of emotions. It’s one of those books you can’t stop reading so you devour, but want to savor at the same time. Because you know when the time comes you won’t be ready to let these characters go. It’s faced paced, engaging and unexpected. This is the third stand-alone book in the Rivers Wilde series. Told in dual POV get ready to get emotional as you join Stone and Regan on their incredible journey. It wouldn’t be easy but it would be worth fighting for. In the end love should conquer all, right?!
