My Review
I am all about some yummy forbidden romance, my friends. I started to fall in love with the fascinating world of Hood River, K Webster created and all the hoodlums that live there ,back when I got my first preview in the bully me anthology. Now my heart is absolutely all in and I’m never turning back.
What completely sold me was when I got to read Hollis and Roan’s story in Hood River Rat. I can’t even tell you how much I was looking forward to this book. I will be honest, Jordy did a lot in Hood River Rat that made me borderline hate him. However , later in the book , I started to realize the depth of his love for Roan and Roux. TBH my heart was quickly thawing into a puddle of goo and it was all for Jordy Martinez. He was loyal, so loyal that there wasn’t ANYTHING he wouldn’t do to protect them.
Now I refuse to give spoilers so I will just tell you, Jordy did something life changing for Roux and Roan and there were consequences for those actions. There was a domino effect, because of the way he continued to handle things after that. To protect them, to protect his own heart, whatever his reasons were. When he feels there is a threat to Roux he will get himself involved in their lives once again. From the moment their eyes meet its instant off the charts sparks and flames. She’s no longer the little girl she was last time he’d seen her, and she’s noticed just how much he’s changed while he was away as well. This has Forbidden/ taboo all over it. Jordy is twenty-one and Roux is seventeen.
I have loved both of these characters since the beginning, so it was heartbreaking to experience their longing for one another. They wanted each other so badly but they had so much going against them. This entire book is a fight for Jordy to get away from his past. But even if he could he would literally walk through fire for Roux, so it’s not that easy.
This made for an amazing book full of angst, suspense and a gripping emotional experience all around. I loved everything about it. Roux and Jordy were perfect together. He was the ultimate! His love for her knew no bounds. But when his past and her present collide will his love for her, get them both killed. And what will happen to his friendship with her brother when their secret comes out. This is book two in the Hood River Hoodlums Series and while it is a stand-alone, it would be better if you read book one -Hood River Rat first.
